Ways to qualify
Qualifying Programs
You may be eligible for a free phone plan through Lifeline if you participate in certain government assistance programs such as Medicaid, SNAP, SSI, Federal Public Housing Assistance, Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit, and more.
Income Qualification
If you don't participate in any qualifying programs, you can still qualify based on your income. Households with an income at or below 135% (or 150% in California) of the Federal Poverty Guidelines are eligible for a free plan. This makes it possible for more families to stay connected without financial strain.
