All TruConnect California LifeLine customers are required to renew their free government phone service once each year to avoid being disconnected. LifeLine is a government assistance program, and LifeLine service is non-transferable. Only eligible consumers may enroll, and the program is limited to one discount per household.
Do I still Qualify for California LifeLine?
In the state of California, you may qualify for the California LifeLine discount if you OR another member of your household is currently enrolled in any one of the following public assistance programs:
- CalFresh, Food Stamps or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
- Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA) or Section 8
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
- National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
- Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC)
- Veterans or Survivors Pension
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs), Stanislaus Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (StanWORKs), Welfare-to-Work (WTW), or Greater Avenues for Independence (GAIN)
You may also qualify for California LifeLine if your household income is at or less than the following annual income limits:

How do I renew?
In order to renew your participation in the California LifeLine program, follow these steps:
Step 1: The California Lifeline Administration will automatically send you a renewal form in the mail 105 days prior to your anniversary date. The renewal form includes your Personal Identification Number (PIN) in a pink envelope. Your PIN is located on the first page of your renewal form. To view a sample form, click here .
Step 2:You can use your PIN to renew by phone, online, or by mail:
A) By Phone: Call the California LifeLine Administrator at 877-858-7463 with your LifeLine phone and follow the automated voice prompts to complete your renewal. If you wish to renew through the phone, you must call in from your LifeLine phone. If you are calling from a non-LifeLine phone, you will not be able to complete the renewal process through the phone. However, the California LifeLine Administrator will still be able to assist you in retrieving your PIN, resending the pink envelope, and assisting with any other questions you may have regarding your LifeLine account.
B) Online: Renew online here. When entering your phone number and PIN provided to you by mail. You must then follow the prompts to complete the entire process.
C) By Mail: Complete, sign, and mail your renewal form with a PIN to:California LifeLine Administrator

When is my deadline to renew?
Your deadline to renew is your annual anniversary date from when you first signed up for your free Lifeline service. To check your renewal deadline, call the California Lifeline Administrator at 8778587463 and they can provide it for you. If you have transferred your California LifeLine service to TruConnect, your annual deadline is based on your original signup date and not your transfer date to TruConnect. You can renew up to 3 months prior to your deadline. Renew early so you do not lose your opportunity to continue your California Lifeline benefits with TruConnect!
How do I know if I've been successfully renewed?
You will be notified in a letter in the mail confirming your renewal.
