Our mobile hotspots provide an internet connection for up to 8 devices over Wi-Fi. With a mobile hotspot, you and members of your household can get internet connection for your tablets, laptops, and desktop computers. All hotspots must be paired with a hotspot plan. To get a prepaid hotspot, you can purchase a TruConnnect prepaid plan or for those eligible for our ACP plan, you can receive a free mobile hotspot or hotspot-enabled phone. Our hotspots can be taken anywhere so that you are always connected to the things that matter most.
A mobile hotspot is a device that uses wireless cellular data to connect to the internet. Many smartphones also have the option of turning into wireless hotspots, allowing you to use your phone to connect a device like a laptop to Wi-Fi. There are also non-phone hotspot devices that generate an internet connection using a wireless signal that you can use to connect devices to the internet. A hotspot will not work without cellular service since they use it to connect you to the internet. Hotspot devices essentially act as a bridge between a device and a cellular network, allowing you to use that network to access the internet. These devices typically look like large, thick cell phones and are battery-powered. Mobile hotspots are also often referred to as “MiFi” and “travel routers.”
Our hotspot plans offer speeds up to 30Mbps via 4G/LTE wireless technology. With speeds like this, you can stream your heart out without the wait. This includes watching the content you love on video streaming platforms like Netflix and Hulu, which require speeds of 15-25 Mbps. If you’re using 3 or more devices to stream content, or use your hotspot for more “data-intense” activities like multiplayer online gaming, a much higher connection speed is strongly recommended so that you have the bandwidth you need to minimize buffering, lag, and ping times. Generally, 30Mbps is considered fast enough to meet most families’ needs.
Our 8GB hotspot plan is $30 per month, but FREE for those eligible for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).
How much internet is 8GB? 8GB of internet means you'll can listen to 600 hours of music, visit 100,000 web pages, and stream 50 hours of videos. Never be without coverage with our hotspot devices!
Of course! You can always top-off your 8G hotspot plan by purchasing additional data in MyTruConnect.
If you reach your 8GB limit, you'll be automatically redirected to an Express Pay page, where you can pay for more data or minutes. Within just a few taps, you'll be able to easily get the data you need to your plan. You can use a credit card or a previously purchased data refill card.

We are proud to participate the FCC’s Lifeline and Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). If eligible for the Lifeline and/or ACP plans, you can get FREE unlimited talk, text, and up to 14.5 GB of data, with the option for a FREE smartphone. You can also bring your own device (BYOD) so you can keep your phone and number, but get rid of your costly monthly cell phone bill.
