Does the government offer free phones to seniors on Medicaid?

Yes! The government created the Lifeline and ACP benefits to keep people connected and bridge the digital divide. Through these programs, companies—like us— can offer smartphones and cell service to qualified Americans nationwide. With your new smartphone and free wireless service, you can enjoy doing more of what you love, without the hassle of your expensive monthly cell phone bill. With TruConnect, you’ll be connected to what matters most, including telehealth, staying in touch with family and friends, finding your new favorite recipes, taking photos of your adorable pets, picking up a new hobby, and more!

Pro Tip

Double the programs, double the benefits! Combining your Lifeline and ACP benefits into one package gives you even more benefits, like a free smartphone!

About the Affordable Connectivity Program

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) provides a monthly discount of up to $30 off your monthly phone or internet (broadband) service or up to $70 if you live on qualifying Tribal lands. The program benefit also provides a one-time $100 device discount that can be used for a new smartphone or any other internet-capable device.

With TruConnect, if you qualify for the ACP benefit, you can get free monthly cell and broadband services, along with a free smartphone or other internet-capable device for all your connection needs. We offer our Lifeline and ACP customers a Google Play certified LTE Android smartphone, or you have the option of bringing in your own phone to use with your TruConnect service!

How to qualify for free Medicaid phones

If you're on Medicaid, then you may instantly qualify for Lifeline and the ACP benefit online. Since National Verifier, the application program used for Lifeline, is connected to Medicaid in most states, you don’t have to go through a long and difficult verification process; the National Verifier system verifies your benefit electronically. We love less paperwork just as much as you do!

You can apply for Lifeline and the ACP benefit online, or you can mail in a paper application. The paper application is very simple and straightforward; have your social security number ready and the social security numbers of any of your dependents, especially if they participate in SNAP.

As soon as you’re qualified, we'll ship you your phone or SIM card so you can start enjoying your free phone or internet-capable device and free monthly wireless service plan.
